COMPOSITION:
TENALINE 20% LA contains:
200 mg oxytetracycline base (as dihydrate).
The spectrum of activity:
Oxytetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, with bacteriostatic action against a large number of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, (like streptococci, staphylococci, Pasteurella spp., Brucella spp., Corynebacteria spp., Actinobacillus spp., Eperythrozoon spp., Bordetella spp., Ehrlichia spp., coliforms, Salmonella spp.) and spirochetes, mycoplasmas, Rickettsiae spp., Chlamydia spp. and some protozoa. Activity against Pseudomonas-, Proteus– and Klebsiella spp. is low. Applied parenterally, oxytetracycline penetrates quickly into the blood and tissues, but the advanced effect of this preparation is the extremely long therapeutic effect. Oxytetracycline acts synergistically with polymyxin.
Indications:
TENALINE 20% LA used for the treatment of Infections caused by micro-organisms susceptible to oxytetracycline, like infections of the respiratory tract (pneumonia, bronchopneumonia), infections of the urinary tract, enteritis, (endo)metritis, mastitis, foot rot, and Bedsoniasis in cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, and poultry.
Contra-indications:
TENALINE 20% LA contra indicated in case of Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines, serious kidney and/or liver disturbances, combination with penicillins or cephalosporins, use between 5 days before till 5 days after vaccination.
Side-effects:
Hypersensitivity reactions, irritation at injection site.
Dosage and administration:
The general dose of TENALINE 20% LA is: 20 mg/kg bodyweight (= 1 ml per10 kg bodyweight) by deep i.m. injection. Three days action. Avoid application of more than 10 ml per injection site. In severe cases inj. can be repeated after 3 days. Piglets till10 kg maximal 1 ml subcutaneous.
Withdrawal time:
For meat: 28 days. For milk:10 days.
