Spectinomycin 100 mg/ml equivalent to Spectinomycin Sulphate tetrahydrate 151.2 mg/ml. Lincomycin 50 mg/ml equivalent to Lincomycin Hydrochloride Monohydrate 56.7 mg/ml.
Other ingredients:
Benzyl Alcohol, Hydrochloric Acid, Water for Injection
Properties:
-Lincomycin is produced by Streptomyces lincolnensis and is chemically distinct from all other clinically available antibiotics.
It is readily soluble in water and is effective in vitro against most of the common gram-positive bacteria. It is also effective against certain Mycoplasma, spirochete, and anaerobic organisms.
-Spectinomycin is produced by Streptomyces flavopersicus. it’s readily soluble in water, and has in vivo activity against many gram-negative and Mycoplasma organisms it’s like Lincomycin inactive against yeast, molds, and viruses.
Indications:
Spectovet Indicated for the treatment of pneumoenteritis of non-ruminating calves, contagious foot rot and respiratory infections in sheep and goat, airsacculitis (CRD complex), fowl cholera, staphylococcus infections in chickens and turkeys, respiratory infections, skin infections, urinary tract infections, and secondary bacterial infections associated with viral diseases in dogs and cats.
Target species :
Cattle, Sheep. Goats, Dogs, Cats, and Poultry.
Dosage:
Non ruminating Calves: Inject 15 mg Spectovet/kg body weight intramuscularly twice daily on the first day followed once daily for 2-4 days.
Sheep and Goats: Inject 15 mg Spectovet / kg bodyweight intramuscularly once daily for 3 days.
Poultry: Inject 30 mg Spectovet/kg bodyweight subcutaneously once daily for 3 consecutive days
Dogs and Cats: : Inject 30 mg Spectovet / kg bodyweight intramuscularly
Dose may be repeated at 12-24 hours intervals up to 21 days.
Withdrawal period:
Non ruminating Calves, Sheep, Goats and poultry Meat – 14 days
Milk – 7days
Warnings:
– An occasional pain on injection site may be present.
– Occasional transient diarrhea following use may appear in sheep and goats.
– Loss of appetite and decrease milk production may be observed in goats.
Storage:
Store Spectovet in a dark and dry place below 25*C.
