COMPOSITION
Marbocyl 2% contains:
100ml of sterile aqueous solution containing 2 % of marbofloxacin as active ingredient
thioglycerol 0.05 %
m-cresol 0.2% as preservatives
0.01% disodium edetate
Ph. Eur. as a chelating agent

MARBOCYL 2% is packaged in amber type II glass vials of 100 mlS.C and 1.V. in pre-ruminant calves up to 100 kg b.w
indications:
FOR USE IN PRE-RUMINATING CALVES UP TO 100 KG B.W.
MARBOCYL 2% is indicated in the treatment of respiratory infections .caused by susceptible strains of organisms.
dosage and administration:
The recommended dosage is 2 mg/kg (1 ml/10 kg) in a single daily injection Intravenous route for 3 to 5 days or subcutaneous route for 3 days
To avoid excessive broaching of the septum, the use of a draw-off needle is recommended.
pharmacological properties:
Marbofloxacin is a synthetic, bactericidal antimicrobial, belonging to the fluoroquinolone group which acts by inhibition of DNA gyrase. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive bacteria (in particular Staphylococc) and Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium, Campylobacter jejuni, Citrobacter freundi, Enterobacter, Proteus spp, Klebsiella spp, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Bordetella bronchiseptica, Pasteurella haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Haemophilus spp, Moraxella spp Pseudomonas aeruginosa) as well as Mycoplasma (Mycoplasma bovis Mycoplasma dispar, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae).
undesirable effects (frequency and seriousness):
Subcutaneous injection is well tolerated. Transitory inflammatory reactions are sometimes observed
at the injection site, but without clinical impact
No severe side effects are to be expected at doses up to 5 times the recommended dose in cattle
In particular no lesions of the articular joints
are encountered Overdosage may cause acute signs in the form of neurological disorders which would have to be treated symptomatically.
